The piece opens with background rain sounds, some ‘purring’ type sounds close to the hydrophone and various other low-level underwater sounds. Again, like in January, there is a vague sounding of an animal moving through the stereo field of the hydrophone. However, February also reflects the low activity levels under the water at this time of the year.
The year opens up with a mix of sounds from the air and the water. It is a quiet track, punctuated by low-level noises of a single creature sounding. Then the piece quickens to the sound of a larger mammal swimming through the stereo field, the quiet to be restored back to the initial levels of January activity levels.
